Doctor Who: Television Soundtrack

I must say that I was really impressed when this plopped through my front door today. I'd only ordered it from Amazon.co.uk 36 hours or so previously and taken advantage of their free delivery that can take 3-5 days.

I have not yet listened to the full CD but the purchase was worth every tiny little electronic penny for the ooo-ooo-ooo track that has been nicknamed 'Flavia's Song' (or something like that) by the production team. Mostly identified with the recurring Bad Wolf link throughout series 1, the track listing identifies it as "The Doctor's Theme".

The Westminster Bridge track is also spectacular. It was used to open episode 1 of the 2005 series and instantly grabbed attention for it's very rhythmic twang.

Congratulation must go to Murray Gold for his excellent compositions.

For anyone wondering whether to buy or not then the BBC currently have the Children in Need concert on their site for online viewing. Doctor Who: A Celebration is quite enjoyable and features a lot of good music. The various 'guest' appearances make the show even more entertaining and I sincerely hope that this will be on DVD very soon.

How Nerdy Are You?

Why am I not really all that surprised with this result?

You Are 60% Nerdy

You may be a bit surprised with this score, but your more of a closet nerd than an actual nerd.
Stop denying your inner nerd! You're truly dorkier than you think.

Build A One-Quarter Size Dalek

I discovered this today whilst looking for information on Hexaflexagons. The ThinkyThings web site came in the search result and the word 'Dalek' on the page immediately grabbed my attention.

Doctor Who: 43 years old today

As the title of my post indicates, the BBC's television series Doctor Who has it's birthday today. It started transmission on Saturday 23rd November 1963 with William Hartnell in the role of The Doctor.

Despite resting for more that 16 years, it is probably fair to say that it's going stronger today than it ever has done on the past.

Happy birthday, Doctor Who!

How Abnormal Are You & The Muppet Personality Test

I rather like the results of these two tests!

You Are 44% Abnormal

You are at high risk for being a psychopath. It is very likely that you have no soul.

You are at medium risk for having a borderline personality. It is somewhat likely that you are a chaotic mess.

You are at medium risk for having a narcissistic personality. It is somewhat likely that you are in love with your own reflection.

You are at medium risk for having a social phobia. It is somewhat likely that you feel most comfortable in your mom's basement.

You are at low risk for obsessive compulsive disorder. It is unlikely that you are addicted to hand sanitizer.

More fun tests? You'd think I'd have learned by now.

You Are Animal

A complete lunatic, you're operating on 100% animal instincts.
You thrive on uncontrolled energy, and you're downright scary.
But you sure can beat a good drum.
"Kill! Kill!"

The best cliffhanger ever?

It's been one of the most elusive of the Big Finish plays for me to track down, but I managed to finally get a copy of 'Doctor Who and the Pirates' using the 'used & new' link from Amazon.
I've just finished listening to disc one and, whilst I do not wish to give away any details, the cliffhanger at the end of episode 2 just has to be one of the best Doctor Who episode endings ever written.
Big Finish have been producing original Doctor Who for quite a few years now and have produced some outstanding plays but if you've never listened to this play, I can certainly recommend this one.

The old site still exists...?

I cannot believe that my old website is still alive and well on the web. My old opinions of Doctor Who and my own stories are there ready to be read by anyone who wishes. None of thecontact links there point to my correct email address so I'd recommend that anyone with feedback leave their comments on thissite.

The Time Is Getting Nearer...

Looks like I missed the new trailer for Doctor Who - Series 2 but thanks are due to the official Doctor Who website team for making it viewable online.
Not long to wait now...

Pachelbel's Canon in D - on the electric guitar...?

You have got to see this to believe it. It's on Google Video and can be downloaded for viewing in their player.

Deadly Soundtrack

I have just discovered the Thief: Deadly Shadows Soundtrack on the 'Thief: The Circle' website. There were some incredibly eerie tracks during the game and with a CD player that turns itself off after a while, you can have some nightmare-inducing, yet soothing, music to fall asleep to!

The Five Year Mission Continues...?

Hey, this looks interesting. They've got a Pilot episode and a completed first episode available. I stumbled across it whilst looking at Google Video's. I haven't had time yet to sit down and watch the completed episodes but the snippet I have watched had me hooked.

OK, the acting isn't that great, but it's definitely better than some of the stuff that's broadcast these days anyway. The computer graphics are very good, though.

Just starting...

I never thought of keeping my website going this way. I wonder how often I'll update...

Anyway, after a few years, I've decided to delve back into Linux. The trouble is, Mandriva 2006 doesn't seem to like my GeForce FX 5200. I've found a copy of OpenSUSE SLICK that I'm going to try in a few minutes time.

First though, it's time to put the kettle on.
